First off, Happy Spring!!!! It's finally here in full force. Spring to me is when the dogwood, irises and lilacs are blooming, so I thought I'd share.
Now on to business. I have been busy this week and had grand plans of posting every day, but homework (the kids need the computer a lot for that) and sleep take precedence.
So here is what I've been up to:
Day 1 and 2
(Day 2 was spent more outside planting our garden but I managed an hour or so of sewing)
I sewed up the peplum top I had cut out for the earlier season of Project Run and Play. I needed the pattern that was pinned to these pieces, so I thought I might as well sew it up since it had been laying around for so long. Do you remember the color scheme I went with that season? Well this fit right in and I still love it. I especially love the sweet light robin's egg blue/light turquoise fabric. I wish I had the maker, but it was a fat quarter with no selvage. I don't remember exactly which outfit I had this planned for, but it would have fit with pretty much any of the bottoms I made that 'season'.
The shirt is modified from the pattern I drafted for this shirt. I simply cut it off at about the belly button and drew out the 2 pieces for the peplum, making them a little wider in order to get the gathered look.
I really like doing the contrasting collar and I particularly like this one.
Here's a closer look at the fabric and the contrast.
Day 3
Next up was this shirt, but the details will be coming next week, because this is part of my 'Knock it Off' outfit that I will be featuring over at Elegance and Elephants next week. I also saved the buttons from both shirts to sew on while I was watching a cheesy movie that night.
Day 4
I made these cute little newborn pants for my newest nephew. (Secretly hoping the mom is too sleep deprived to be checking my blog until I can give them to her next week:)
I simply followed this great tutorial over at Helping Little Hands. These came together in an hour and have me wondering what other shirts I could cut up. (In a surge of spring cleaning I took a ton of stuff to Goodwill already...kind of wish I hadn't). These are made from a shirt hanging in my closet. They are kind of an emerald green, which I do not look good in even though green is my favorite color. I also personalized a bunch of onesies, which I'll show tomorrow.
Next up for tomorrow, finish the onesies and the shorts for my Knock it Off look. Then I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll have time to sew up a new bag/purse for me before I leave town. That's just me leaving town and I'm so excited for 3 days of not being ''off'.
